Can I pay by Credit Card or EFTPOS?

The Centre has a credit card and EFTPOS facility. Cash or cheque payments are otherwise accepted.  All our therapists require that you pay the amount due at the end of each session, unless a prior arrangement has already been made.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?doctor referral

If your treatment is to be supported by Medicare, you will need a referral from your doctor under the Mental Healthcare Plan.  If Medicare rebates are not required then you will not need a referral from your doctor.  Simply call to make an appointment.  Referrals are also not needed in order to claim rebates or refunds from your private health insurance fund.

Will my treatment costs be covered by my health fund?

Psychologists at the Centre are registered with a wide range of health funds.  Check with your private health cover provider to see if your package includes psychological counselling and how to make a claim.

Will my costs be covered by Medicare?Medicare

Under the new Medicare scheme introduced in November 2006, rebates are now available for treatment but not assessment.  In order to be eligible for a rebate, you must be eligible for the scheme and referred by your GP, your psychiatrist or a paediatrician. Your GP will need to prepare a Mental Health Treatment Plan (2717) before referring you to a psychologist. You should book a longer session with your GP to enable time for this.  Generally, you will receive a $84.20 rebate per session (for up to 10 sessions per year) under the scheme.
